Mevlana Exhibition Opened At Hagia Sophia

The Ministry of Culture & Tourism has opened the exhibition called "Being a Soul in the House of Love: Mevlana Jalal ad-Din Rumi" at Istanbul's Hagia Sophia on June 19th.
The exhibition consists of nearly 200 works gathered from several museums and will promote the Mevlevi Order.

The exhibition will remain open till August 12th.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared 2007 as the year of Mevlana to mark the 800th anniversary of his birth.

The Mevlevi Order was founded by the followers of Jalal ad-Din Rumi in 1273 in the central Turkish city of Konya. They are also known as the Whirling Dervishes due to their famous practice of whirling.
