Northern Wing of Istanbul Archaeology Museum Inaugurated

Historical artefacts including Sidemara, the biggest sarcophagus of Turkey, are opened to visitors at the Istanbul Archaeology Museum with a ceremony attended by Turkish Culture & Tourism Minister Atilla Koç.

Delivering a speech at the inaugural ceremony, Koç stated that Turkey needed a new approach in museum management and added that they wanted to establish the concept of "private museum management" in Turkey.

Stressing that Topkapi Palace and Haghia Sophia are the most visited museums in Turkey and that he hopes Istanbul Archaeology Museum would become as popular as them.

Koç also stated that other closed parts of the museum where coins, treasuries and libraries are kept, would be renovated and opened to visitors soon.
