Despite she had been gradually deserted in aid of Pera, the city of Galata kept many traces of its cosmopolite past.
Its synagogues and its latin churches ar still in fonction as some blocks occupied by the descendants of the Genoese, still live in the middle of some trade areas.
About the architecture, the one of the XIX century dominate. It’s mainly visible in the south part where the banks used to have their headquarters. But you can still see some traces of the XIII century, as the Podestat and someothers genoese houses.
The walk give you also the opportunity to see: the caravanserai of Rüstem Pasha, the bazaar of Galata, the house of André Chenier, the Camondo’s steps, some Franc houses, the Underground mosque and Galata Tower.
